A Hopeful Farewell

I just hope you know

How deeply youve touched my soul

And if this is the end of the road

that we walk together

May it be the slowest pace

That outlasts the stormiest of weather

I’ve made peace with my demons that sent you fleeeing

Still your presence is all of what I’ve been seeking

Nonetheless, I’ve relinquished the need to try to control the outcome

I want you around because I feel something familiar in you

But I hate how my triggers got dumped all on your doorstep

And how my oblivion had me expecting to still be welcomed in with open arms

I’m not a sorry person but I hope my apologies are heartfelt

I let my fantasies get away from me

Hoping that, since, in you I see me, that you’d see me too

High hopes string up heavy disappointments that leads to awakening something deeper, something stronger

Bc the love that I am keeps me from staying in that empty space for too long

Now I see how some things are just for me to work on

You were all that I’ve dreamed I’d become eventually

Now I see, just as I’ve come to love the imperfections that make me up perfectly

I also have to embrace the imperfect reality

That all that we seek won’t always be

what we imagine it could be

All that we desire won’t always meet us where we wait

And even if we go for it, somethings will forever remain out of our reach

And that’s okay

It’s necessary for each of our journeys either way

That’s why letting go of what I hoped it would be is the only thing left for me

To do away with the excess

Bidding You a farewell that I still hope never comes to fruition

but I’ll keep on pretending

Keeping my heart open

Just in case you turn out to be everything I’d hoped you’d be

In the end

—lovingalways.
