New beginnings

Hey fam, friends and silent associates 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾

It’s Monday, 22 days into a new year, about 122 days since I turned 28.

I’m hitting milestones left and right and I see a lot of y’all doing the same. I think it’s high-time I share a piece of my “Why” for everything I’ve been doing and not been doing, posting and not posting.

#IssaStory 📕

Ever since I can remember I’ve always had a first mind to be of service, like anyway I could help I wanted to, without thought of receiving anything in return. I just always wanted to keep people happy, didn’t want my Mama or Daddy stressing and didn’t wanna be the cause of it so I suppressed a lot of shit that I probably shouldn’t have.

As a kid, I hid in my sisters shadow as much as I could, taking up most of the activities that she wanted to do, always wanting to tag along with her and her friends while being an annoying brat (like most lil sisters right? 🙃😇).

However, the things that I really wanted to do I second-guessed and doubted myself to the point of not even giving it a try or half-assing it and giving up before even really learning the game.

I remember being like 13 and my mama enrolled me into Barbizon Modeling School (which may have been a scam but that’s not my point). I had gone a few wks, I enjoyed being there and learning new things but also wasn’t 100% committed, as per the custom.

One day, I overheard my Mama talking about not having enough money for something and I told her I didn’t have to do the modeling thing, that it wasn’t that important to me. And it wasn’t. Because I didn’t believe in myself to 100% commit to it. And because I didn’t want to be a factor in her stressing over money.

Fast forward to 10 years later, 3/4 years ago. I started a hair braiding business, quit my “nice job” while hiding out at my super supportive bf’s crib, whom also paid for me to take the class out of sheer love and belief in me.

I started out overly confident and then maybe like the 3rd/4th month into it, I was again consumed by the fear of my own abilities, fear of failing, fear of the unknown, fear of overcharging and getting consumed by the love for money. I didn’t have a strong foundation of my “Why” so I didn’t commit to staying the course and back to square one I went.

3 years later and this thang has finally come full circle for me. I finally, wholeheartedly, accept the calling on my life to serve as many people as I can by helping them, however I can. I hate traditional jobs just like everyone else but even more so the ones that focus more on their own physical gain while shitting on those keeping their business afloat.

So much so that I often put my own needs aside in protest by quitting the good, not-so-good, minimum wage and high-paying jobs once I felt I was drowning in a sea of recycled bullshit.

And when I could help others I inherently wouldn’t charge much or anything at all which would leave me wondering why the hell I wasn’t born with all the resources (aka money) to accomplish what my soul set out to do; just help people.

And then, one day it clicked.

I. AM. ENOUGH.

Finally conquering that self-hate, self-doubt, self-pity, self-shame whirlpool I got myself into, alas I found self-love. Which turns out to be the same agape love that I felt as a kid/teenager and I want to spread it to every edge of this world and beyond.

I know God doesn’t make mistakes. Everything I need I already have, I just needed to dig deeper within myself to find it. Which brings me to now.

After accepting my past failures as lessons learned, I was able to understand the root cause of my issues and pluck them away, one at a time. While I’m far from the finish line, I can now manage the flow of what-if’s, no longer allowing them to keep me hiding out in my sunken place. I have become anew.

I’ve expanded my old business “Creations by Cosia” which only consisted of me doing hair to “A Helping Hand”, where I help you, help me to help us, anyway I can.

The accompanying picture doesn’t encompass all of what I have to offer but it paints a good picture of what I am here for.

Prices vary based on services provided, the time and resources it’ll take and any exchanges that take place of monetary payments.

The services that I provide is to help me get back on my feet and get in position for my overall mission which is to establish OUR OWN community built for us and by us.

On the journey to building our village, I have many ideas and visions that will aid in this great adventure and they will be revealed in their own time.

This Community for homeless people in Austin is a perfect example of what I envision for us in the long run. It may even be my entire purpose of existing.

To truly embody the phrase “It Takes A Village” and to express genuine, agape love for each other more than we show love to the ways of this society that has hindered and STILL hinders us more than it has helped us.

I’m far from perfect but that doesn’t make me less than worthy or deserving of being a help to someone else. I don’t know everything and never will but I do know this, I’m here to serve in love which will bring about peace for all who are connected thru faith and unity.

Being a perfect blend of my mama and daddy I am a Jack of All trades and a Master in Love”

So let me know how I can help you, help me to help us.

Please and thank you 🙏🏾💖
