I woke up before the sun this morning and just started writing. It started out as a journal entry and turned into a poem. I’ve been expressing myself more through poetry lately. One of my cousins passed a couple of weeks ago and hearing his spoken word at the funeral expedited the stirring up of my own gifts. Not to mention the love and peace that was felt afterwards at my Aunt’s house. I’ve been dibbling and dabbling in various arts this past year (coloring, painting, drawing, photography, videography, modeling, journaling, cooking, etc.) more and more lately… About 11 days ago I started singing a rendition of Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton, then I started writing it down and from there I began writing my own thoughts and feelings more consistently turning them into poetry. I always said I was a rhymist when I would catch a rhyme slip in casual conversation lol. There are sooo many factors that plays into this transition of my life and how I even came to write, speak and videograph these words. I’ll be getting deeper into that in my upcoming posts.
