So, off-top, I know many wont approve of my actions these past few days and that’s okay. I didn’t do it for anyone other than myself anyways. I followed a calling that only I’d been hearing over the past few years…a deep yearning to go off exploring this country I’ve been living in for 30 and a half solar spins.
Something I couldn’t make sense of outside of the knowing that there’s more behind this nudging. Even at a time, such as this, the calling that had once faded came back with sirens blaring…okay, okay, the message is loud and clear. Now is NOT the time to be living in fear. Get the fuck out yo mind and gtf up outta here.
And so, I did.
I packed up my things, a lot of extra shit, just bc I wasn’t sure what would come of this. Meal prepped, extra sanitary protections, my pillow and some blankets, and my stash of creative trinkets that I’d yet to play with. A little out of the box, I was aware of riskiness of this endeavor.
I wasn’t sure how to tell my parents that I was about to do something so daring…cross-country trekking..or tripping, however they’ll perceive it. I knew they’d tell me things that would go against my plans, things I’d already considered and didn’t really care to hear but their love and concern is what I needed.
Planning for this trip mentally versus physically… 2 completely different energies had to be heeded. Merging my intuition with my practical thinking, not rushing but moving accordingly. Being flexible while remaining fixed on my plans, staying aware of outside circumstances but believing in this voice in my head, gingerly whispering “go ahead, you are protected”.
And so, around 6pm (CDT), I looked around my apartment, took a deep breath, gave thanks for this space in a time such as this, slowly opened my front door, closed and locked it with my key, hopped in my 2011 Equinox made by Chevy, pushed play on my recently made playlist “Get Away” and proceeded to 288 N. Elated.
